Elastic Belt

This elastic belt was made from a few found objects around my house!  I had the flower pin from something I had bought awhile back and the clasp was something my mom had given me and I never quite knew what to do with it.  I sewed on a button in the middle of the flower and glued the flower to the clasp.  I sewed the elastic and was done!  So easy and I love wearing it!  I wear it a lot with dresses.

Stitched Elephant

I actually got this shirt for my little guy on clearance for a whole 88 cents!  I did not love the color however and wanted to do something to it.  I decided to do some embroidery and then found this cute elephant.  Voila-la, I like it so much better now!

Clear Necklace

I have made a couple of different necklaces out of clear beads and I love wearing them.  They go with almost everything and I like the larger baubles, the effect is nice.  I always get compliments when I wear them.  Fun!

Wedding Updo #2

I did another trial run for the wedding that I’m doing hair for at the end of December.  This is really easy and the construction is much quicker than what I had done before.  I first set the hair with hot rollers and after taking them out and took all of the hair behind the ears and gathered it into a ponytail.  I then took sections of the hair that was left out and loosely pinned the hair back to the ponytail, keeping the bangs with body and height.  Once everything was pinned back I started with around two inch sections of the ponytail and backcombed the underside and pinned into a bun shape until all was pinned.  I think it turned out beautiful and the bride to be loved it too.

Stripped necktie

I was able to find some silk tie scraps on etsy and couldn’t resist!  I wanted to make a tie out of them for my little guy but had no idea how to go about it.  I looked around and found quite a few pictures of different ones others have made, so I just cut out a pattern out of paper and it worked!  I had to piece together the scraps but did pretty well at matching the pattern!  I made this reversible and it can be switched easily.  I just used elastic with velcro on the ends to fasten it.  My little guy hasn’t worn it yet, but I’m excited for him to!

Knitted washcloths

I recently took up yet another hobby, knitting!  Like I really needed to add anything to my list!  I’m loving knitting and do find it very relaxing.  It is perfect for all of our traveling and is compact and easy to do in the car!  I’m lucky that I my cousin is an avid knitter and I have gotten some great websites for patterns.  My mother-in-law is also a knitter, so it’s nice to have them as resources.  This is a stack of washcloths that I’m doing for Christmas!  I started using a couple of the duds myself and they are great!  Hope everyone else enjoys them!

Ribbon Flower Pin

So I couldn’t help from seeing all of the wonderful flower pins people have been making and had to make some myself.  I made some different versions, but this one was I just made out of ribbon and hand sewed it together while wrapping the ribbon around on its self.  A cute little button finished it off.

Sewing Kit

I recently got some really cute fat quarters and didn’t know what I wanted to do with them.  I haven’t been sewing as much lately and feel out of the flow!  I have also been loving the ruffle trend in everything, so I added some ruffles to the front of the bag.  I’m using this little bag as a basic sewing kit to have with me while traveling.  I’m always missing something and throwing things in different bags, so now everything will be together!

Wedding Updo

This is a practice updo for a wedding that I’m doing at the end of December.  I like the way that it turned out, but we decided to do something totally different and will be doing another trial run.  I think it is always good to do an extensive consultation and practice updo for weddings.  I told the bride to look for pictures to get an idea of what she liked, and even bring pictures of what she didn’t like.  Sometimes ruling out options can narrow it down easier.   We decided to do something that is positioned a little higher on her head and fuller.  More of a bun shape, which will actually be easier and less time consuming.  She wears her hair up often so she wanted something different from her day to day look.  I’ll post pictures of what we do, and probably pictures of the other 7 updos I’ll be doing for the wedding.  It will be a really busy day for me.  I’m praying now!

Felt Animals

I haven’t posted anything in a really long time!  It doesn’t mean that I haven’t been making things.  When I can catch a few minutes, I’m working on something.  I haven’t been as good lately in taking pictures of the projects that I’m making and keeping track of them.  I guess that’s what motherhood does, at least for me.  I have been making some Christmas presents, but not as many as I would like.  I also started knitting.  I’m really loving it and find it really relaxing.  Anyway, these felt animals that I made were for my son’s pack and play mobile.  It had really simple and what I believe to be boring shapes of a moon and stars hanging from it.  So, I decided that I would make something else to hang from it.  I came up with these animals and he loves playing with them.  I did sew on the buttons with lots of extra thread because I knew they would be in his mouth.  I check them often to make sure they are not loose.  They were easy and I like them a lot better than the ones that came on the mobile.
